The several boxes were loaded factory ammo. Sorry, my previous post suggests boxes of 40gr bullets. What I meant was the factory loads had 40 gr Hornady bullets and they had at least 20 or 30 boxes of ammo.

It sounds more to what happens when I fired hot loads in my contender barrel. I wonder if the case head had expanded and making the rim to grow as well. Since I found good loads without having to make them too hot, my brass not only last long but also the rim problem is not present.

It works great in my TC Contender in 5.7x28FN. I get good accuracy with it. My specific load may not be suitable to fire in your gun. Do not do case filled. It can destroy your gun. My load is not completely filled and it reaches maximum (for the TC Contender, at 11.5 gr).

My uneducated (unproven) experience tells me that the factory loads use something like small pistol primers. I had been using pistol primers for all my loads in my TC contender and it wors just fine. I use CCI-500 and CCI-550 (for H110 loads).

I cannot believe the prices on 5.7x28 brass! I could not help to remember during the Clinton Government in the 1990's, the gun banning crowd were proposing a 400% tax on ammunition to discourage shooters from buying ammo. They were not able to pass that into law but price gouging now is making it so...

I have a chrony and if you have it to close to the gun, it will flip between metric and english system. I too have some low number readings in the past but the cure was to push it away at least 15 feet from the muzzle and it need to have good sunlight too.

I have more pistol primers than rifle primers and the CCI-500 and CCI-550 are doing just fine. The pistol primer has a lighter skin and it is easy to fire it up while reducing some of the extra pressure the rifle primer has (in my gun anyway, a T/C).

In my opinion (not an expert one), the 5.7x28 cartridge is so small that a rifle primer lit the entire cartridge chamber and then some, regardless of where the powder is sitting in the cartridge. It will burn it all.

Yes. That's what that is.

I started with the bullets seated way out there and I am working my way in slowly. Although, I had to already do that for the heavier bullets such as the 63 and 70 grains and I see no problem with that.
