Gen 2

Post by JROCK555 » 24 May 2013, 20:30

I know you folks get this question all the time, but I need your help at this point. I'm selling a PS90, and I started receiving questions regarding the trigger pack and asking for pictures of it.....ding, ding, ding. I started researching it, and I believe the rifle has the Gen 2 pack. I looked at this forum and others along with pictures on search engines and realized it is potentially a "collectors" item.

This is my understanding at this point.

Gen 1 OD housing with black internals
Gen 2 Gray housing with black internals
Gen 3 Gray housing with black interanls and gray hammer
Gen 4 .....

I have the gray housing with all black internals. I changed my sale accordingly. However, I have a "watcher" for the sale constantly emailing me telling me that is not all that determines what Gen trigger it is. Even though he only requested pics of the trigger to begin with. He is now asking if I have used "calipers" to measure it? I have not seen that mentioned on any forum.

I do not want to make a mistake and ruin my reputation with a mistake on the sale of this rifle with regards to the trigger Gen, but I also don't want to be harrassed and taken advantage of.....

Please help

Thanks
JROCK

Jrock, I am not an expert, but I think you have it right. Another way to check is the serial number. I have not seen a Gen 2 after serial FN 041400 or so. It would likely have a white ring site or a tri-rail. I think by the time they switched to the black ring site, they had gone to Gen 3.

Anybody else feel free to jump in and tell me I'm wrong.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for your help and input. It's a tri-rail, but high 40 thousands serial number. Could anyone else provide some valuable input? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I saw your pic on GB. It looks just like my Gen 2. It has the forward "safety" sear. I also found a Gen 2 into the 50's serial number.

serial #s are generally not a good indicator for Pack. Gen 1 packs will be all black or different colored hammers. Gen 2s will have gray body and black hammer.

People seem to want measurements and detailed pictures off the gen 2 so they can do naughty things with them without having to buy the gen 2 pack..

Thanks Mike and Buffman,

Now it is making more sense why this individual wants more/specific information. I truly appreciate your help, thanks!

Has anyone seen the Gen 1 packs with the black front sear? I've also seen pics of Gen 1 packs with the od green front sear, what is the deal with them and is there any difference between the two?
