SWR Spectre II Review
A quick look at it. I wanted to include the FsN in this but EFK takes their time in shipping them. So here it is on a Ruger 10/22 takedown and a S&W M&P22 pistol:
As I'm sure most of you are aware, the mics on video cameras are not designed to properly capture very fast/loud sounds. The difference between the unsuppressed and suppressed rounds is really incredible!
(Thanks to Esteves for the idea for changing up the intro for this video - I thought it was funny.)
EDIT: adding video of the Spectre II on the FsN with an EFK barrel from Elite:
I just got my threaded barrel yesterday from EA and did some testing today. I used several different kinds of ammo with some very interesting results:
1) The elevation screw head on the adjustable sight got sheared of while shooting ProtecTOR rounds. I had to tape the rear sight down and guess the elevation for the remainder of the video.
2) This was the dirtiest my FsN has ever been. Normally it can go a few hundred rounds without getting even close to ugly. I had to clean it in the middle of making the video because the fouling was just incredible.
3) I do NOT recommend using T6 rounds with this suppressor. I only put 3 rounds through it, but I will not be taking any chances to see if the results can be replicated.
Here is what happened to the Spectre II front cap when one of the T6 rounds key-holed. No baffles were damaged and SWR is replacing it for free(!) so no harm/no foul.

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
Nice review JG.
Will that same Spectre 11 work with the FN57?
Thanks.

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
Yep, it sure will and I'll have a video review of that just as soon as my threaded barrel comes in!

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
Nope, I've used the original, but I'm pretty sure there are some here who have...

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
I have had both. The original had regular omega baffles and weighed about 8.5 ounces. The omega baffles are really quiet but leave the tube very dirty, these new baffles leave the tube clean and the whole thing is shorter and lighter then the original. Overall, I do like the new one a lot better as far as weight and performance.
Here is a photo of the original.

When my buddy gets his can out of jail, I'll compare the sparrow and the Spectre2 side by side.
Re: SWR Spectre II Review
When my Spectre II gets bailed out in a couple of weeks I'll shoot some video of my fiveseven and add it to the video record.

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
Well done, informative video!
It looks like that "3rd" ProtecTOR you were looking for, jumped out after your first shot and landed next to your factory barrel on the table... very strange.
Thank you for doing some testing on the various rounds available, especially in this ammo drought, and confirming that T6 should NOT be used in a suppressor --I would be interested to see what they do out of the new barrel, without the can attached.
Good stuff. :thumb:

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
Solid, Greenberg.
And good *** shootin.
I posted this on the video page:
"HAHA
Great review, Greenberg! Awesome shootin, as always
Btw, the Pro II; on the first shot, the empty AND a live cartridge ejected from the magazine.
Whenever you change the bbl length, add weight to the front of a handgun, and attach a suppressor, you'll have to tune the timing of your slide to work with the correct ammunition.
In this video, you did all 3 And performed a good test to see which ammunition works with the suppressor and ext. bbl setup. Keep it up!"
I made sure to add smiley faces, because with the mode of speech that I have, most people in today's culture think I am being negative when I try to speak, online. So I add a lot of smileys so they don't get offended. The smiley's aren't for you, so don't feel special. I don't think anything you or I converse about can offend either of us
With the suppressor, obviously you are getting gases and pressure back, causing the dirt and debris. It's the same with a carbine, shotgun, etc.; whatever platform on which you use a suppressor. With the XP spring, it does help keep that slide locked in hand with the timing. You'll just have to find which rounds like to work with the suppressor. Just with anything, trail and error! :thumb:
(then again, maybe you shouldn't listen to me, I thought P51's could out-maneuver an A-10.)

SWR is a great company, that's why I recently ordered an Octane 9 to go with my micro 7. They always take care of their customers.

I was shocked when they said send in the damaged one and we'll send you a new one. No questions asked, no hesitation. Awesome.
Blue, good catch on the video. I didn't think I counted wrong when loading up the ProtecTORS. I'm absent-minded, but...
The Pro's are obviously loaded to much higher pressures than the other rounds - with the can on the FsN it was sending copious amounts of hot gases back in my face. It wasn't an issue with any of the other rounds.

Baffle strikes are always something to worry about. The faster a bullet is going to greater the likely hood you will get one.
I put T6 through a Gemtech without issues but I have not had a Spectre sitting in the shop to test with.

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
Just FYI - I'm not really concerned about it. I have no desire to use the suppressor on my FsN, except maybe for plinking fun with SS197 or possibly AE's round. If I do use it for HD, then it will be fed a diet of S4M which ran flawlessly with the can. I put a LOT more rounds through it than you see in the video... well not the T6 rounds  .panzermk2 wrote:Baffle strikes are always something to worry about. The video is just for informational purposes for anyone considering the EFK barrel/Spectre II combo on a FsN.
I mainly bought it for my .22lr guns, which when used with subsonic ammo, is ridiculously quiet!

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
Sometime down the road I will be able to have on hand ALL the common cans for the 5.7x28.
Red Jacket is coming out with what looks like a really nice easily disassembled 3 piece unit in 22cal rated for the 5.7.
They guys in this vid aren't ones that spend any time on camera, kinda obvious.

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
In my experience; heavier grained rounds loaded comparably to lighter rounds will have more backpressure.jgreenberg01 wrote::agree:jmz5 wrote:SWR is a great company, that's why I recently ordered an Octane 9 to go with my micro 7. They always take care of their customers.

Hey Jay;
Have you heard anymore about the Red Jacket suppressor? I was thinking about one for a Kidd 10/22 to be used along with my FN57.
Any input would be appreciated, Thanks.

Re: SWR Spectre II Review
I want to get one but with the lack of supplies it's hard to justify dropping half a K on one just for testing,
This is the reality of it all.
Trust Me Will and I chat through FB. He is a good guy, show crap aside, and I want one if only to support him.

Thanks Jay. I'll keep watching here to see if Will lets you HAVE one to do some testing.
