Post by AlphaMale » 04 Nov 2008, 20:17

Well, he just got California and Florida....its over...All Hail Obama. I'm going to go throw up now and go to bed...it is a dark time for the United States...I hope I'm wrong, but we just elected a Marxist as President of the USA and endorsed by Al-Qaeda and Iran.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washing ... ma-44.html

Politico.com has him at 338 Electoral Votes as of 11:21pm...all that is needed is 270...Its over.

I suppose I was holding out for "hope". Get it?

Well, the moon hasn't turned red just yet, so I guess there's still tommorow.

It's gonna be a helluva ride.

Read the rights to the IED emplacer
Blow him not up!
Give him a trial (free on bond)
Read your ROE (now 400 pages) and love it
Charge not your weapon unless you have been shot
Thou shalt not kill thy enemy. He's not a bad guy, just misunderstood and the victim of poverty
25% budget cuts - thou dost not need fuel or ammunition to train
You can point and say "bang!", same thing,
but you're not supposed to shoot anyway.

Gonna be a loooooot of disappointed people at work tommorow.

Given the quantity of 50BMG brass & overstock I've seen flying off the shelves(figuratively) I'd say some people have been practicing. One of the guys I work with paid me $2/ea for my brass. I had been saving it up to get re-loaded but, that was just too good a deal to pass up.

All Hail Amerika!!

We have officially jumped into the <profanity> of government-will-control-your-lives Socialism.

As I write this, we are hanging on, by a tiny, frayed thread, to a hope that the DemocRATS will not get 60 votes in the Senate. There are now 56 Democrats + Lieberman (Independent) + Bernie Sanders (Socialist) for a total of 58 for the Evil Ones.

Coleman (in Minnesota) looks like he'll squeak in ahead of Al Franken-stein (by less than 1/2 of a percent).

Smith (in Oregon) has been about 6,000 votes behind all night (with about 52% of the vote counted as of this moment). My guess is that he'll lose.

Stevens (in Alaska) is ahead by a point. So, it looks like everything is hinging on Stevens (the convicted felon).

What a fine mess we've found ourselves in. :wall:

Very disappointing to wake up to.

I don't normally mind being wrong, it's an opportunity to learn.

Not this time.

I guess I'll spend the winter sorting/selling/tossing and packing since I probably won't be able to afford the luxury of two jobs anymore.

I can't say that I'm not surprised by the results of the elections last night.

From the perspective of an outside observer here in Canada, I have to say that your country has been the victim of a good sales job - almost comparable to a used car salesman. From the very beginning I was disgusted to see the effect of celebrity endorsement on the politcal stage. It's absurd that an election can or should be so significantly affected by what famous people tell their followers. WTF.

Based on preliminary statistics, it appears that his success was based on youth and African American votes. Some may argue these demographics may not be the best informed with respect to the actual issues. I don't think the most qualified person was elected nor was the person that sacrificed the most for their country.

I'm part of a visible minority (Asian) and certainly not a racist but I think it is wrong for someone to be elected based on race and not qualifications.

There seems to be a lot of panic within your community and I haven't been up to date with his proposed legislation but these changes can't be implemented overnight and he does have his work cut out for thim dealing with the economy.

I feel sorry for the people of America today, it's a shame. Tax man will be coming soon!

Obama said, that's one thing you do not do, is predict and say that he is going to win!

All you can do is be hopeful,
the way i look at it:

He's significantlly ahead in the electoral votes, so i'm thinking he has this.

BUT, the tables could always turn.

There's still a few more hours to go.

Only time can tell what this country is heading for, another Republican to keep this country heading the way it's been for 8 years, OR
adapting to some change, and letting the first African-American man run our country!!!

Interesting Column
While the Democrats and Barack Obama have won the presidential election and come close to a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, they will be handicapped by the financial condition of the nation they will inherit. Think of a trustee or conservator of a bankrupt company. Obama will find his options substantially constrained by reality, if not by the partisan animosity of the Republicans.

Those who fear a radical Obama miss the point of the lack of maneuverability of the next president of the United States. Behind the mortgage crisis looms the credit card crisis and the student loan crisis and the car loan crisis. Sweating the credit out of the system will take two years of zero growth or contraction. We won't have a Great Depression because the government will irrigate our economy with money. But we will have stagnation, followed by inflation.

Obama, as the next president, will take office with unlimited political power but with highly circumscribed practical power. He will be able to pass whatever legislation he wants in Congress, but won't be able to indulge his ideology. He will be faced with constraints at every turn.

The irony will be bitter for the Democrats. Finally able to rise above the political limitations they have faced, they will now encounter limits having nothing to do with politics, but having to do with the fundamental problems of the economy they will inherit.

The role of the Republican Party is to rebuild in the shadow of the frustrations of the Obama presidency. Just as MoveOn.org built a massive grass-roots base that yesterday impelled the Democrats to victory, so the Republicans must go down to their grass-roots, get in touch with their base and rebuild an opportunity to win national elections. Government has been bad for the party. It has sapped the party's soul and eroded its purity. But opposition, especially as a socialist like Obama wrestles with the practical problems of capitalism, will be a heady experience for the Republicans. The conservative movement can be reborn in opposition in a way they never could have been as the governing party.

For political historians, it is worth noting that Obama has not scored the knockout that many predicted. He will win by a few points in the popular vote, but not by the double digits so confidently predicted in the media polls. The fact is that most of the undecided voters went to the Republicans.

In the face of a mandate limited by reality and undermined by his inability to sweep the nation as had been predicted, Obama faces a difficult situation as he becomes president. As the economy falls apart around him, he will find himself unable to raise taxes as he wants and will find that his plans for government takeover are stymied as well. He will profit from a political reality that will accommodate his agenda but an economic reality that frustrates it.

A very tough future awaits President Barack Obama.

That wont stop Obummer. He'll just cut the national defense budget by 25% (kind of like what fellow Democrap Barney Frank proposed recently).

What people don't realise is the operational effect that budget actually has on military units.

When I was in Iraq the congress failed to pass its annual emergency spending measure for the war, delaying months. As wierd as it sounds, not having paper, printer cartridges, etc etc etc can have a really detrimental effect on operations. If you cant print a map that you need it doesn't matter if you have plenty of fuel.

A 25% accross the board budget reduction would HAVE to be followed by force reduction. There really isn't any way around it. In the army, with 10 active division sporting 4 BCTs each, along with a Combat Aviation Brigade and other subordinate and tertiary units and commands, there is no way we could operate on 25% less money.

You can't eat your cake and have it too.

Yep. There would have to be a troop reduction. I would like to see some restructuring in Iraq and more troops in Afghanistan.

Funny story:
My 7 year old son David, shortly after school says to my wife: "mom, my teacher today talled that she will wote for McCane and not for obama, becouse obama wants to take our money, and mom, can you tell the police so they will not let the obama take my money i've being saving for new video game."
I'm glad that at the least, my kid is going to school were marxism is not indorsed.

Yeah Kris' School St. Joseph's had a mock election Tuesday and McCain won with 59% of the votes.

Although when I picked her up from school and she was excited at the fact she got to vote I asked who she voted for and she said McCain and as she said that there was a 4th or 5th grade girl from her school walking by and said "John McCain sucks" I wanted to smack this child not for her opinion but the words she used in front of my 1st grader.

Yeah this is going to be a real dark time in America. Because the last 8 years were a bright ray of sunshine.

Um Mrs.P, I think you should drive over there and smack her just for saying "wootie woot", let alone for voting for Hussein.

If your ego isn't big enough ALREADY:

I emphasized a few of the lines I thought were...odd.
In Some Nations, People Look to Obama as President of the World
Barack Obama's election on Tuesday set off international celebrations and ignited a fervor for the United States that has been unseen since the days immediately following the September 11, 2001, terror attacks.

To some observers, the international reaction has elevated America's president-elect to an unparalleled post: president of the world.

In Kenya, where Obama's father was born, a national holiday was declared on Thursday. In Indonesia, children danced at the school Obama attended when he was a young boy, embracing him as much for what he represents abroad as for the policies he advocates at home.

Click here to see photos of celebrations around the world.

"People from all over Africa, especially in Kenya, where this is a holiday, are feeling that the most powerful person in the world does not have to be a white guy. That's a huge breakthrough for the United States and for humanity," said Walter Russell Mead, the Henry A. Kissinger senior fellow for U.S. Foreign Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations.

"This is the fall of the Berlin Wall times ten," Rama Yade, France's junior minister for human rights, told French radio. "On this morning, we all want to be American, so we can take a bite of this dream unfolding before our eyes."

America's popularity abroad waned dramatically during the Bush administration, and some voters expressed hopes that in electing Obama, they could restore the country's image. The wave of good feelings since Tuesday night suggests that even before taking office, Obama has made substantial inroads.

"This may be the beginning of a new world. It marks the end of old elites and opens the door for new approaches worldwide," an Israeli man in his mid-50s said in Tel Aviv.

Foreign observers, who paid rapt attention during the long election season, are taking a personal stake in the outcome of a vote a world away. Expectations are high for the 47-year-old Obama, who will take over on January 20 amid a financial collapse and who will preside over two wars on his first day in office.

"The standing of everybody in the world is going to be affected by what President Obama does or doesn't do," said Mead, noting that all eyes will be looking to the new president for a way out of the global financial crisis.

In the Muslim world, the response has been mixed. A journalist with a pan-Arab news channel told FOX News that on election night, workers were going around the newsroom congratulating each other, as if Obama were their president-elect.

Iraqis have expressed skepticism that any rapid changes will come as a result of the election, but many see their fates ineluctably tied to Obama's foreign policy. "By God, the new American President Obama has promised to pull the troops out. This is in the best interest of the Iraqi people," said one Baghdadi.

Arab heads of state have been more circumspect, waiting to see whether Obama's Mideast policy will depart significantly from that of the Bush administration, and some newspapers in the Arab world have openly announced their distrust of the president-elect.

"There is no significant difference between Obama and McCain. They disagree only on the means to achieve America's chief goal, which is to rule for another hundred years," said an editorial in the Saudi daily Al-Watan, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute, which monitors the Arab press.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad congratulated Obama Thursday for his win -- the first time an Iranian leader has welcomed an incoming president since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. And some Iranians, speaking to FOX News, said they were excited by the prospect of the coming administration.

"I want to congratulate you on Barack Obama's victory that really turned a new chapter in the world's history -- that an African-American man, decent and intelligent, became president of the world," one Iranian said.

"This was done in America. Your nation has the credit for it."

Not all observers expect this world embrace to be long-lasting. "I think overseas, as at home, opinion over the longer term will depend on what he actually does," said John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Obama was issued an early challenge Wednesday, as Russian President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the deployment of short-range missiles near his country's border with Poland.

"Those who have issues with us are certainly not giving him a honeymoon," Bolton said of Russia's action, which may have been intended to send a cold word of welcome to Obama and to test his resolve.

Russian citizens, too, have been wary in their evaluation of the next president.

"I don't think he can really become the world political leader," said Tatyana Solomonova, a real estate agent in Moscow. "The fact that he's black can be an obstacle -- there's still a lot of racism in the world, in Europe and Russia too. I think he can take a leading role in the Western hemisphere, but not in this part of the world."

In Moscow Thursday, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who has a history of controversial remarks, was asked by a reporter about the prospect for U.S.-Russian relations after Berlusconi met with Medvedev.

Berlusconi responded by saying that the relative youth of Medvedev, 43, and Obama should make it easier for Moscow and Washington to work together.

Then he said, smiling: "I told the president that [Obama] has everything needed in order to reach deals with him: he's young, handsome and even tanned."

Italian news agencies said Berlusconi later defended his remark, calling the statement "a great compliment."

"Why are they taking it as something negative? ... If they have the vice of not having a sense of humor, worse for them," the ANSA news agency quoted him as saying.

But Italy's only black lawmaker, Jean-Leonard Touadi, called the comment embarrassing.

"In the United States, a joke like that wouldn't just be politically incorrect, but a great offense to this amazing example of integration, which it seems the Italian premier should take as an example," Touadi said.

For good or ill, all eyes are now on Obama.

"Not everybody is going to get what they want, but this is a moment of hope," said Mead, who added that Obama was sure to fall short of some expectations.

"If you look at Jesus Christ, he walked on water and fed the 5,000 and he ended up getting crucified, so I think it's not unlikely that President-elect Obama is gonna disappoint some people also."

FOX News' Dasha Bond, Courtney Kealy, Reena Ninan and Amy Kellogg contributed to this report.

It seems that some of the disciples' faith is beginning to falter.

Obama has reversed pledges to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil. He’s hedged his call for a quick drawdown in Iraq. And he’s stocking his White House with anything but stalwarts of the left.
Now some are shedding a reluctance to puncture the liberal euphoria at being rid of President George W. Bush to say, in effect, that the new boss looks like the old boss.
Even supporters make clear they’re on the lookout for backsliding. “There’s a concern that he keep his basic promises and people are going to watch him,” said Roger Hickey, a co-founder of Campaign for America’s Future.
Obama insists he hasn’t abandoned the goals that made him feel to some like a liberal savior. But the left’s bill of particulars against Obama is long, and growing.
Obama drew rousing applause at campaign events when he vowed to tax the windfall profits of oil companies. As president-elect, Obama says he won’t enact the tax.
Those are just excerpts but what did they expect from someone with his unsteady record?

I mean honestly, 90% of everything that goes into a campaign is lies, dirty money, pats on the back, handouts, and more lies.
What else were they expecting? That come Jan 20th Everybody wakes up and live in a perfect world?

I thought this was the reason America stopped electing far left liberal crazies
