Obama's record on firearms triggers run on sales in Colorado
Denver Post: GRAND JUNCTION — John Faulkner and his wife, Brenda, thought Wednesday was a good day to buy a handgun.
"I'm 37 years old, and this is the first time in my life that I am really scared for our future," said Faulkner, an oil field worker, as he perused the collection of weaponry in A Pawn Shop here.
At Aurora's Firing Line gun shop, Steve Wickham was also purchasing. "Anything I can get my hands on," he said as he cradled a $699 9mm handgun.
Same thing in Lakewood: "I was selling guns before I even opened the door," said George Horne, owner of The Gun Room. "It's gone completely mad. Everyone is buying everything I've got on the shelves. Sales have been crazy."
By midday Wednesday, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's

Gun-shop owners and buyers said the urgency was fueled by Barack Obama's presidential win and Democrats' increasing their majority in Congress.

I wonder how long before we can add a Zero behind the current price of a FiveSevern.

I don't think I'm being naive when I say people are flipping out and acting like paranoid crazies. Plus, that article frames the gun owner like a psycho when they say he was "cradling" the gun. You cradle a baby... God I hate the media.
Once I see some empirical evidence, I'll join in this parade of panic that all gun owners (except me) are participating in.

The thing to buy now is ammo, unless you just don't own a firearm. It will be easier for Obama to raise taxes on ammo (like tobacco, gas, and alcohol). It will be seen as a "recreational" sport and Obamanites can sell it as a way to increase revenue for the failing economy without affecting the common man. You will probably also see some form of ammo ban tacked on at the end (like 50bmg and 5.7x28 and other "lethal" ammo) Look for that within the first two months of office.
Next will be a ban on the so called "assault weapons", this will follow a very highly media sensationalized shooting. The shooter will probably use a handgun but will own several "evil" rifles that will be displayed all over the media. This will probably include a few handguns like the FiveSeven. Look for that in 8-12 months into office.
After these two pass, you will see in 2-4 years a general whittling away of gun rights, with different addendums added so that it doesn't look like you are loosing anything until everything or most everything is gone. More restrictions on magazine capacity, more handgun bans, more ammo bans, more "evil" feature bans, and so on and so forth.
People keep talking about the take everything at once approach, but that is very unlikely to happen in the US, as we are still use to some personal freedoms. However, the majority of American's don't notice when "rights" are slowly taken away piecemeal.

I fear you may be that guy who has to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a rifle or ammo just before a very likely ban. Believe me, I hope that's not the case. But in all likelihood it may be. Just listen to folks like Jay who can contest to the condition created by Carter and Clinton.Boxing Buffalo wrote:I don't think I'm being naive when I say people are flipping out and acting like paranoid crazies. I agree. Any that is why I just received my latest shipment of Elite Ammo today (let's just say I have received significantly in excess of 1,000 rounds over the last couple of months). :guns:mickey223 wrote:The thing to buy now is ammo...You will probably also see some form of ammo ban tacked on at the end (like 50bmg and 5.7x28 and other "lethal" ammo) Look for that within the first two months of office.
I've done a complete inventory of my ammo and over the last three or four months have really bolstered all of my supplies (although I have paid special attention to the 5.7 because I do think the 5.7 ammo is particularly vulnerable to legislative attack, at least with respect to handgund ammo).
The Dems are, of course, going to be focusing on economic issues. But, their minions will be pulling out a long (and I mean long) list of other things they will go after and guns, generally, will be near the top of that non-economic list.
But, yes, I would (and am) stock up on ammunition.
Re: Obama's record on firearms triggers run on sales in Colorado
I agree. Buying it now is like buying insurance, only you get to use your "insurance" (the ammo) later, whether or not there is a ban. It seems like one of the better "insurance" policies a person can buy.MrSlippyFist wrote:I fear you may be that guy who has to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a rifle or ammo just before a very likely ban.
Re: Obama's record on firearms triggers run on sales in Colorado
This is diffently the time to buy, and the purchases should be from other parties, not from gun shops. The purchases need to be without the Fed Records. The best buys now would be long guns, not handguns. That way, the "Big Brother" would have a harder time locating the weapons. Remember the movie, "Red Dawn"!
Re: Obama's record on firearms triggers run on sales in Colorado
I went down to a local shop here called Get Some LLC . yesterday and my local news channel was there doing a story on gun sales and the election. Mike one of the managers was saying they have been selling 20-40 semi auto assault rifle clones a day for a couple weeks and he is having a hard time keeping inventory in. Now Im not a panic buyer and already have an awesome collection but I find it humorus that the one thing the anti's dont understand is that the threat of a new ban causes more production and sales than not and actually promotes ownership. This seems especially true since the last failed ban that only really increased prices on banned items and never really prevented ownership. If you can afford it go get it. stock up on spare mags and ammo when the budget allows for it , Dont ask for permission from the wife just show her the new toy and ask for forgiveness.

No forgiveness needed here.

Look at it as an investment in your retirement.
You'll either be able to cash in on it later for that much needed money for old age, or need to use it to ensure you LIVE to see old age! :lmao:

Anyone notice how Cabela's (web site) is out of stock on all 5.7x28? Not certain about the store shelves...
Re: Obama's record on firearms triggers run on sales in Colorado
You know, this all saddens me. Just look at us...our outlook for our Country is dire and we are extremely concerned for our Freedoms and Constitution...rightfully so. I just find it horiffic what is happening. Things to me seem like they are going to start to move fast before 12 months have passed. How can so many vote for him then go and line up and buy a weapon. I know they are...a guy I know bought an AK and then went out and voted for Obama! He knew what that vote meant, btw...banning any type of gun possible and socialism. We'll see what happens but I don't think its going to be pretty.

The economic woes and the fact that Big Auto is going down will keep our new leadership busy for some time. They also know that taking away what we already have would be an explosive move that could change the interim congressional elections. I think we will hear talk but that is all it will be - talk.

I hope so brother!
I hope the same is true for his rediculous plans to create a "homeland security force" and expand the peace corps and create other armies of "citizen volunteers". *shudder*

He has since made it part of his platform for "change". Yep, nothing says "change" like a national police force answerable to the president. In Barack Obama’s July 2, 2008 speech calling America to national service, Obama proposed “a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as our military.

I hope they don't put the new force in brown shirts with arm bands.

Yeah this guy is remarkably dangerous.
"Just as powerful" :lmao:
That statement alone is ludicrous. The first "civilian security force" with first strike capability and global strategic reach.

That was my thought at first. However, after following his current agenda, it seems Barry is looking at using the power of the executive order to bypass congress and put into effect several of his "change" policies.
He has 3 months left to get all the paperwork together and all he has to do on day one is sit at the desk and sign away.

Funny how those Executive Orders work, isn't it? They were only supposed to be applicable to the White House and D.C., but then suddenly they became effective nationally.

As much as I agree with your sentiment, it's still prudent as Slippy suggest to consider buying those things that will likely be involuntarily removed from your wish list. Ammo certainly will cost more, but those systems you've put off purchasing will certainly be more expensive if not reach a level of unobtainium.

Really . . I had wondered what had happened to him after his last misunderstanding incident. Regardless, this reminded me to put in an order in with Elite this week!
