Trade SS 192 for 9MM - Help Me

Post by Beecher Tool » 07 Aug 2013, 18:22

Gentlemen,

Permit me to state that I have NOT lost my mind, in fact, I have a HUGE focus, since Illinois passed a CCW statute, I have been scrambling to convert 30 years of active shooting and competition into a practical skill set with a goal of being able to teach the anticipated CCW class in Illinois..though we won't know what it is specifically until Sept. 7. The past four months, besides taking refreshers for core NRA classes I have completed:

NRA Basic Pistol Instructor and BIT
NRA Personal Protection In the Home Instructor
NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Basic and Advanced Instructor
NRA Range Safety Officer
Illinois Dept. of Financial & Professional Regulation Firearms Instructor
NRA Defensive Pistol

Defense Associates - Massad Ayoob - MAG 40
Alias Training - Ken Hackathorn and Bill Wilson - Advanced Defensive Pistol

Since April 1 I have shot through 4,500 rounds of 45ACP and 9,000 rounds of 9MM....which has wiped out my reserve....the shortage of 9MM is particularly acute.

As such, I am blessed to have a >8K round stockpile of 5.7x28 SS 192 having procured five full ammo cans. My proposition...would be willing to part with 500 rounds of SS 192 in sealed boxes for a proportionate quantity of 9MM ammo...I don't need personal defense rounds, I need training rounds...I would prefer to let someone propose an exchange ratio, but will suggest an exchange ratio...SS 192 sells at retail for $150-200for 50 rounds at retail. Reasonable 9MM white box ammo sells for..and I will be generous for say $20/bos...hence 500 rounds of SS 192 has a value of say 10x$150/50 round box = $1500, $1500/20 per box = 75 boxes @ 50 rounds/box = 3,750 rounds.....permit me to apply a "nuts factor" and as such would accept 2,500-3,000 rounds of 9mm in exchange. Caveat...under NO circumstances will I consider any steel cased ammo...brass or nickel is ok. Sealed boxes only , nothing remanufactuers.

IN BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS..THERE ISN'T A SNOWBALLS CHANCE IN HELL THAT THE AMMO IS FOR SALE FOR CASH...I NEED THE 9MM ROUNDS..AND OFFERS TO BUY FOR CASH UNDER $250 FOR A BOX OF 50 WON'T EVEN BE RESPONDED TO.

Please help me move this forward.

Where is SS192 selling for $150-200/box? Holy Toledo whoever sold you that at that price made a killing!!!

You can buy it all day long at $55-65/box, and if you shop around, $35-40/box.

Not what I paid for SS192....thats what its going for on GB...I picked up 10K rounds in sealed containers...of 2K rounds each for under $100...I will call <profanity> on finding it for $40/box you can't even buy SS197 for that price...and AE is crap...I am open to offers...but after getting a PM suggesting 1 for 1 for generic 9MM...eh why bother.

Well consider not using Gun Broker as a source for proper valuation. It isn't referred to as "Gouge Raper" and "Dream Breaker" for no reason ... ;)

Proper valuation of SS192 is $35-40/box of 50 rounds. Anyone paying more than $50/box is either desperate, uninformed, or careless with money. LOL

Actually there is a sealed case of SS192 for $2150 now on GB. That is ~$53/box. Still more than its real value, but a lot less than the $150-200/box you mentioned in first post. And if you login to GB and search completed auctions you will find that folks can advertise anything they desire, but rarely does SS192 sell for more than $55/box. Loads of unsold SS192 in ended auctions where the seller was asking $75 or more per box.

BTW, it's your ammo and your deal. Not breaking your balls, just didn't know if you were aware of SS192 value.

FD no problem....if I take a step back...I bench marked off of small sales...and thought I was clear....if I get a reasonable offer I will take it however when a senior member here offers round for round for cheap 9MM its annoying. I guess I could offer to trade out of my reserve of Black Hills 5.56x45 Mk 262 but would be an ogre with that. If I could find 5K rounds of decent 9MM for 50 cents a round I would be done.

Beecher Tool - GLWT!

Someone out there has a cache of 9MM plinker.

Never invested in plinking ammo, only in SD, match, and hunting ammo. All of which gets cycled through. :)

Back on your topic - maybe ARMSLIST ad?

Beecher, we are a little low on 9mm right now, I've probably got only a case or two in the store that we will continue to sell by the box so we have it for our customers, but we should be getting a few cases in early next week. I'd be interested in a trade if you are still interested. I'm going to hold off on offering anything until I know who the manufacturer is. What ever it is, it will be brass cased boxer primed. Feel free to drop me a PM or call me at the store. 540-775-2605. I'm not in on Thursdays, but I'm in the shop every other day of the week.

Thanks

Charles

I'll trade 700 rounds of 115gr Federal 9mm rounds for 500 5.7 rounds if you're up for it.

I would say given what 192 is truly going for if you have to get rid of it fast, you are looking at a 2 to 1 maybe 2.5-1 ratio but not likely. That is 2 rounds of 9 for each round of 192.

It would be more if 9 wasn't as tight or if you live in an area like the mtn west which seems to have its share everything. But those arê terms I would have to have to do a deal, being that I have a decent amount of both calibers on hand.
